Charlottesville, VA (February 13, 2023) - It is with great pleasure that we can congratulate and wish Mayowa Owolabi a CCL farewell as he joins the Haiti Football Federation to work with the U17 and U20 Men’s National Teams.  Owolabi leaves the CCL after 3 and 1/2 years as the first National Conferences Director. We are excited to see Owolabi grow into this position with Haiti and appreciate his impact with our organization. Through the last 3+ years, we have watched Mayowa enhance our social media presence, and our day-to-day operations. Owolabi was integral in developing the CCL Internship Program which has created access to top universities and students looking to gain valuable experience in the sporting industry. We currently have two staff members, Ryan Godwin and Ethan Taylor who started with the CCL in their internship roles. In addition, Owolabi has acted as the CCL United Director which has seen over 600 players experience international travel while competing at internationally recognized events - Gothia Cup, Vildbjerg Cup, and USA Cup. This program has always been a staple for CCL as we saw a great stride forward in the competitiveness of this program. In the last two summers, the CCL United program was able to bring home over seventeen trophies.

Creating these programs as coaching education for the staff selected and meaningful experiences provided to players looking to compete at the highest level. Players and staff during our program trips have seen local talents such as All American, and current UVA Sophomore, Parker Sloan, participate in. In addition, A licensed coaches such as Hans Etinene(NVSC), Shay Bell (Charlottesville Alliance) and the 2022 CCL Kwik Goal Coach of the Year Fabien Lewis (LMVSC).”  - Executive Director, Brian Kuk

Mayowa led the CCL through the recent pandemic and engaged with members through weekly director calls and the production of CCL ExtraTime, which featured guests from the soccer world such as Kristine Lilly, Jimmy Conrad, Evan Newton, and Dan Gaspar. Under his guidance, the Adidas National Cup tournament, which he was instrumental in growing, has become one of the top events in the country. He also oversaw the league's website, which saw improvements in traffic and usage after partnering with NBC Sports Engine, and the league's social media presence, which grew from 700 Instagram followers to over 8,000.

My personal growth through my time with CCL is invaluable. Through new business education and technical management with club directors and staff I am grateful for my time learning from two of the most experienced guys in the game, Brian Kuk and Darryl Gee! True meaning of great co-workers, mentors, and brothers!
