PROGRAM HISTORY AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: In 2016, we launched the United International program to provide top-level youth soccer players with a one-of-a-kind International youth professional soccer immersion experience. We have selected over 1,000 unique players to represent the United Teams and have brought home over 20 trophies!
Along with a dedicated United International Coaching Staff and the exceptional international friendly matches before the tournaments, the complete experience is second to none. Unique to the Gothia and Girona, teams arrive before the main event to participate in pre-event training and/or friendly matches so players and coaches can prepare accordingly. All teams will train (up to three times) and play domestically before traveling overseas.
PLAYER SELECTION/CRITERIA OF SELECTION:
1) RSVP via the United International Player Interest Form [see Tryouts links above].
2) Open Tryouts (up to three available).
2) Club Director, Technical Staff, and Coaching Staff recommendations.
3) Scouting and identification during matches, tournaments, events, showcases, combines, etc.
4) Identification and recommendation from opposing Directors, Technical Staff, and Coaching Staff throughout league and event play.
Note 1: We aim to select 18 players per United International Teams Roster: 16 field players and two (2) goalkeepers. Head Coaches are not obligated to choose 18 players. In the event of large tryout numbers, United International reserves the right to choose more than one team per trip. In the event of two or more teams, players may be asked to guest play with the other team,
Note 2: Gothia Cup allows up to two over-age players. United International Head Coaches reserve the right to select fewer than 18 players.
Note 3: Younger players are welcome to try out. The United International Coaching Staff reserves the right to select them to participate on any team.
TEAM TRAINING/PRACTICES BEFORE THE TRIP:
The Head Coach will communicate directly and set the team training/practice schedule, locations, and times before the team departs overseas. The goal is to have two to three sessions.
"I just want to say thank you so much for taking such good care of all the kiddos on the Denmark Trip, especially my Aiden. He had such a good time and speaks very highly of all of the staff that was there. He loved playing with the boys he got play with and was sad when it was over. It’s definitely an experience he’ll never forget. Also thank you for the daily Reels and photos, it made us a little more at ease being able to see our boy in action. You guys did a FANTASTIC job!!"
Sincerely,
Melissa Hardwick
"I was very nervous about sending my daughter on an International trip alone. The full-time staff and United International coaches took the time to listen to my concerns, which made me feel very comfortable. My wife and I commend you all for creating a wonderful environment for my daughter. She can't stop talking about meeting new friends on the team and in a new country."
Thank you,
James Marshall
